Heat Pumps: A Basic Explaination

A Thermal Heat Pump is essentially a fridge in reverse, and the way that it works, is that the warmer the cold part of the fridge is kept (the evaporator), the more heat is given out on the hot part (the condenser). The water or air is taken from its source and travels through a specially designed heat exchanger and keeps the evaporator the same temperature as the ground or air temperature. Thus the condenser increases in temperature, and in efficiency. It is the heat generated by the condenser; that is then used to warm our systems.
